Walk 10 - Monte Priora and Pizzo Berro from Rifugio del Fargno.

This walk provides one of the easiest ways to get to the summit of one of the Parks highest peaks. In order to keep the route short, this walk is not circular, but returns by almost the same paths as used for the outward journey.

Because Monte Priora is so accessible from this direction, the route can become very busy in peak periods. At such times, the Rifugio del Fargno is often open, selling a good selection of refreshments.

Even at busy times, this route provides a real sense of being in amongst the mountains, with dramatic scenery all around from the very start.

The Rifugio is reached (from either East or West) via long white roads, which are a little deteriorated in places, so care and time are needed in order to get to the start of the route. It’s also worth noting that these types of road can be closed by damage caused during winter, sometimes right up until the beginning of the summer season in June.

Total Time: 4.5 hours
Total Ascent: 680 metres
Total Distance: 9 km

The paths used by the route are generally clear, with just a few places where they can sometimes be vague. Much of this route involves ridge walking where care is needed, especially on the steep ascents and descents.
