Walk 14 - Pizzo Tre Vescovi from Amandola Refuge.

This walk climbs up the East side of the Sibillini range and heads West to ascend the 2,092 metre peak of Pizzo Tre Vescovi, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the mountains in all directions. The route also visits two other summits, Monte Amandola at 1,706 metres, and Monte Castel Manardo at 1,917 metres, each summit revealing progressively more dramatic mountain scenery.

Total Time: 7.5 hours
Total Ascent: 1,280 metres
Total Distance: 18 km

As well as this demanding ascent of Pizzo Tre Vescovi, this walk also offers two less strenuous options:

Option 1 ascends only the first peak, Monte Amandola, returning either the way you came, or by a slightly more challenging descent route.

Total Time: 3 hours
Total Ascent: 520 metres
Total Distance: 5 km

Option 2 shortens the full walk by missing out the final ascent, but still gives excellent views from the slightly lower summit of Monte Castel Manardo.

Total Time: 5.5 hours
Total Ascent: 830 metres
Total Distance: 12 km

All three options for this walk start at the Rifugio (CAI) Citta di Amandola, where you can find refreshments at peak times. There is also a pleasant picnic and children’s play area.

All options involve steep ascents and descents, where slippery conditions and rocky paths mean care is needed. Use of a compass is recommended for these routes
